Imaginative, and filled with interesting effects

Paul Noble’s arrangement of “Overture on French Carols” is an imaginative setting, filled with interesting effects of timbre and countermelody in a brilliant and transparent score. My wind ensemble and audience were equally delighted. I can highly recommend this piece to those conductors with good players seeking an arrangement of traditional French Carols that goes beyond the ordinary in a very musical way.

I am looking forward to performing William Walton’s “Prelude and Fugue” (The Spitfire) as well as other interesting selections from his catalog in the near future.

* NOTE: The Indiana University Wind Ensemble performed the Walton “Prelude and Fugue” (The Spitfire) at the convention of the American Bandmasters Association in Indianapolis on March 1, 2012. Since then, the Indiana University Wind Ensemble has recorded 7 additional titles for this website.
